Valve infection: Fungal infection of the valve - serious and debilitating. You would have to have an abnormal valve, infection of the blood stream (bactaremia) and/or be immunocompromised. Blood cultures can detect candida in the blood. If positive, the next step would be imaging tests of the heart valves.
