Don't know: We do not know why it happens for the first time. It may be associated with diabetes, thyroid condition, rarely some lymph-nodal cancers and HIV. Have yourself examined to rule out any systemic conditions, But some people tend to get it again and again. Treatments usually helps and usually helps.

With tinea versicolo: it is common to recur with sweating and activities. try using selsun shampoo weekly in shower leaving on for 20 min, to see if reduces recurrence. for the GA, there is still little known about why it recurs and why it can spread and be persistent. i try grape seed extract for my patients as well as UVB if steroids don't work
