Hand injury: Hi, ice is a good idea, also Ibuprofen (if no contraindication), if there is an open skin cut then Triple Antibiotics ointment, also need to see a doctor for Xray to rule out fracture and also possible tetanus Vaccine. Good luck.

Tetanus shot: Treat it as any other puncture wound. Clean with mild soap & water (all booboos) and/or dilute (50%) hydrogen peroxide (puncture wounds only). Bacitracin causes less contact dermatitis than Neosporin. Clean twice a day at first, then once a day as heals. Keep covered & no prolonged water contact. Make sure tetanus is up to date. No skin toxic effects. http://tinyurl.com/post8k4 If infected to MD
