Excess stomach acid: gastritis(irritation of the stomach ) often is caused by exess stomachach acid . A PPI (proton pump inhibitor) might relieve the problem . The PPI omeprazol is available over the counter as Prilosic common dose is 20mg once a day usualy at bedtime .If the gastritis symtoms are not significantly improved in 1 week then see your doctor. Your Doctor may want to order further testing.
