Muscle injury: You prob have a muscle injury rather than disc or nerve damage. Suggest intermittent ice and moist heat, 15 each time alternating about 3-4 times per day. Advil will also be effective as anti-inflame and for pain. If still present in one week, or worsening, then seek medical help. Hopefully it will improve in the next few days.

Nerve impingement?: can be caused by being sandwiched between two spinal bones, pressed by a bulging disc. It can cause muscle spasm and back pain. Prevention treatment is always recommended.
