A member asked:

What happens to your thorax and abdomen when you take a deep inhalation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

As the diaphragm: Contracts, it increases positive pressure, and decreases volume in the abdomen, and increases negative pressure, allowing the lungs to expand and draw in ambient air into alveoli, where oxygen transports in, and carbon dioide transports out.
