I recently got the tuberculin test 5 days ago, and the skin where the test was done is still red? what could this mean? am i being paranoid?

PPD: Redness does not mean a positive test. There has to be a wheal or mosquito-bite type bump you can feel when gliding your finger over the test area. It may be a delayed hypersensitivity reaction or a contact dermatitis to the bandage. You may now obtain a blood test like Quantiferon Gold or T-SPOT interferon gamma release assays. http://www.cdc.gov/tb/publications/LTBI/diagnosis.htm

Induration?: When PPD tests are evaluated, the amount of INDURATION is measured (raised area, not just red). If your red spot around the injection site is flush with your skin, you need not worry about the test being positive for tuberculosis.

Irritation: The skin test is an irritant and if not elevated- indurated is negative, but the redness takes a while to clear in some folks. I am one of them. NEGATIVE test
