A member asked:

5 year passes chunks of mucus during bowel movement. only today so far no other symptoms. she did have a cold that is just clearing. is this a normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mucous in stool: Non-bloody, transient passage of mucous in the stool is usually of little concern. However, prolonged symptoms, bloody stools (hematochezia), fever, vomiting and weight loss in combination is NOT normal and should be evaluated.
