Common in infants: Newborns and infants frequently get upset during BM's as they aren't used to the sensation yet. In infants constipation is measured more by the hardness of the stool not by how often they go. If the stool is soft it's ok. Try bicycling their legs during straining or a warm bath. Signs that would prompt a visit to your DR would be bloody, white, or black stools, or if he/she isn't eating well.
