I had a tonsillectomy (cautery) one week ago today, still extremely sore and unable to eat. how long will my pain last?

Too long: Do you have fevers, chills, you may need to go back for a follow up. A week not being able to eat is a bit long

A few weeks: It might take another week or tow for the pain to resolve Each person is different but it does take some time After you start to eat you may have a slight increase in pain for a while

10-14 days total: Tonsillectomy in an adult is rough. The usual course is bad pain for the first few days, then horrible pain. Things tend to improve by day 10-11. Remember, drink cool liquids and ear a soft cool diet only. Your throat may feel tight for awhile. The bad breath and ear pain will also subside soon.
