Sciatic nerve pain: In all likelihood you have compression on the sciatic nerve. This can come from the lower back where the nerve exits the spinal cord. Compression from disc disease or injury, narrowing of the foramina or injury can cause this. See your physician for a consult. An MRI may be indicated to make the diagnosis. Ice, rest, and physical therapy can help. Ibuprophen or naprosyn (naproxen) may also help the pain.
