Yes, unusual but yes: Pain is subjective in many ways. Each person experiences it differently. If the sufferer is lucky enough to not experience pain- good for them! It's still contagious so protection is essential - even if the sores are not visible, people who know they have it need to be considerate of the ones they "love". Best!
