ER: It sounds like your friend may have acute cholecystitis, or inflammation of the gallbladder. This may require emergency surgery. Have them go to the ER and get evaluated. Hope this helps!

Yikes. See MD ASAP: Gallstones hanging out in gb are no problem. Passing them causes pain. If they get stuck in the pipes (bile ducts), can cause MAJOR problems, including pain, jaundice, and life threatening infection. SEE MD NOW to check situation. Impacted (stuck) stones need to be removed (endoscopically and/or surgically)
