Depends: This depends on the provider and the location of the provider's practice. Many providers practice in several settings for surgery; outpatient surgery centers (aka ambulatory surgery centers) or hospitals.

Most are outpatient: Most foot and ankle surgeries can be performed on an outpatient basis(meaning you can go home the same day). These are performed either in a surgery center or a hospital. Some, less involved, procedures can be performed under local anesthesia in an office setting discuss options with your foot surgeon. Dr l.
