Should see an md: This issue has been going on long enough where you need an evaluation and labs. A change in diet will change bowel habits as well as a new medication, but none listed.

Its important: any sto0l change at 49 likely needs a stool test for things like giardia, or other bacteria, and a colonoscopy. look to dietary changes, and medication side effects, ie metformin can cause a loose stool. increase fiber and fluids, call your doc and arrange testing

Get Checked: While detailed dietary, medical and travel history is needed for specific recommendation, a check with your doctor should help in pointing to some directions with simple stool and blood tests. For persisting symptoms you can get a referral to see a GI specialist for additional testing/imaging studies.
