Urine tests screen: Blood and urine tests can typically cover appropriate screening in pre-natal care. Blood tests can check for HIV, hepatitis B surface antigen, and syphilis. Urine tests, beyond a culture and sensitivity, can detect gonorrhea and chlamydia. A Pap may be done at some point with HPV testing. There is not a good screening test for genital herpes; suspicious areas can be scraped or cultured.
