Instability: Either the shoulder joint or the rotator cuff could be involved here. The slight popping suggest the possibility of shoulder instability. Proper right shoulder strengthening/rehab is usually successful in treating shoulder instability, although occasionally, surgery is necessary. See a physician if symptoms persist.
