Tendonitis or Neck: In young people shoulder pain is often due to tendinitis or inflammation of the muscles that move the shoulder, i.e. the rotator cuff.Rest, ice, avoiding heavy lifting and Physical therapy are recommended. If necessary anti-inflammatory medication can be used as needed for short term pain relief.Likewise, occasionally this pain is due to a spasm in the neck or a pinched nerve.
