Tests: Most liver disease can be suspected or diagnosed with the use of blood tests and imaging using ct scan and/or ultrasound. The exact diagnosis may require liver biopsies. In my experience liver disease is almost always diagnosed with the use of these modalities and with the skill of hepatologists.

Liver disease: There are many liver diseases that are difficult to diagnose. Some diseases may be acquired from travel, which many physicians in the United States may not routinely see. If you are concerned you should see a hepatologist, who is a specific doctor who specializes in the liver. Giving a key history is very important.
