Seeming not: Catatonic disorders are a group of symptoms characterized by disturbances in muscular movement behavior that may have either a psychological/physiological basis. The best-known symptoms are immobility--a rigid positioning of the body held for a considerable length of time. Pts dx. with a catatonic dis. may maintain their body position for hours, days. They seem not to be aware of surrounding.
