Hand surgeon exam: Do you have a weak pincer grip, trouble holding a pencil, difficulty turning a key or doorknob or unscrewing a jar's lid? Is it difficult to grasp with that hand? Is there bruising or swelling or tenderness? Was there injury? It would be best to see either an Ortho hand specialist or sports medicine because the exam is best interpreted by them. It is checking for endpoint in angulation at the MCP.
