Pregnant ?: If you have a confimed pregnancy (serum HCG test) and you are having a brown or pink discharge, get what is called a "quantitative" HCG test at your health care professional's office. If the level of HCG is low for the age of the pregnancy, further tests are necessary (ultrasound of the uterus and tubes).

Spotting: Spotting in itself does not mean you are having a miscarriage. Although bleeding can be the sign of a miscarriage, 20 percent of all pregnancies have bleeding in first trimester. If you are not cramping that is a good sign. Either way call your gynecologist he or she will want to check you.

No: There can be bleeding in early pregnancy when the egg implants into the uterine wall...this usually happens about 7-8 weeks. people can also experience light period like bleeding even when pregnant. Rest fluids, and see a Dr if concerned simple blood work can determine if there is anything to worry about
