I recently had blood work done and my tryglicerides are at 1600 the doctor i saw says wait 3 months and retest. is it normal to wait this long?

Triglycerides: Are increased because of sugar in the diet. Stop all forms of sugar and sweeteners. A well-rounded multi vitamin might be worthwhile.
