We need sugar: Sugar is the "currency" of energy in our bodies. We need it. But we do not need to eat it. Our bodies can make it from other substances. Sugar is dangerous when we eat too much of it or if our body cannot use it properly because of a disease called diabetes. Diabetes is more common among people who eat too much sugar and who are overweight. Best advice: Eat food, but not too much, mainly plants.
