Immune system: Vaccines work by producing an immune response. Prednisone works on the immune system to blunt or impair the immune system's response. Therefore it would be a waste of time and effort to give a vaccine when some one is taking a medication like prednisone that would cause the vaccine to fail. Best to wait until you are able to stop the steroid, and get the benefit of the vaccine.
