Control heart rate..: Exercise causes the heart rate to go up so beta blockers would be able to control your heart rate to a lower frequency that would usually beat if you were not taking them. What this causes is less oxygen demand from your heart, so if you are having angina they can help control chest pain triggered by a higher oxygen requirement especially if you suffer of heart disease.F/u w/ your doctor on this.
