A doctor in a article in cosmo magazine said if you're taking meds for genital herpes you can't spread it. i thought you were still contagious. ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You are correct.: Risk lowered by 50% if taking therapy. But risk is not zero. Virus shed intermittently even when no infection is obvious. Should be sure that you actually have herpes and whether it is type 1 or 2 - see your doc for this. Partners should know about your infection status and consider checking their own status. http://www.ashastd.org
