A 29-year-old member asked:

can you have a headache as a sign of pregbancy?

Very unrealiable: Headache is such a non-specific symptom, that pregnancy would not even likely be thought of as the cause of the sx. Of course, it is possible to have a headache when your pregnant. If there is something unusual about the headache, the first time you experienced ha, or if it is the worst ha ever head, must have it checked out. As for pregnancy if u think possible, start with a otc urine test.

Yes: There are two basic types: urine and blood tests. Both measure a hormone called human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hcg). The blood test is the more accurate of the two.

How can I relieve a headache without meds?

Depends on cause: Without a proper diagnosis, there's no way to know the cause or proper treatment. For simple, non-recurrent ha's, might try ice to head or neck, sleep, massage, meditation. A good hands-on osteopathic exam, whether pain is short-term or chronic, might find a mechanical cause - often from neck pain/dysf, rib problems, even sacral problems which can be treated with manipulation. Just some suggestions.

In time: Your body has to clear the drug before your regular periods resume. Once this happens, you should be able to get pregnant unless there are some other issues preventing this from happening. So please see your gynecologist if you have been trying for a while without success.

Plus, if you have been trying to get pregnant for a year or more, your partner should be tested first if he has not fathered a child yet.
