Skyla: Skyla IUD is similar to the Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD. Small flexible T shaped device placed in the uterus by a trained physician, typically GYN in the office. Can remain in place and last for up to 3 yrs (Mirena (levonorgestrel) (levonorgestrel) lasts for 5 yrs). Also secretes the hormone progesterone continuously. Periods often become lighter and may stop completely while using the Skyla. Fertility expected to return once removed
