I had mono 4 weeks ago i'm waiting for my spleen to go down . can i practice with my football team we are not doing contact yet just helmets?

Not recommended: During recovery from mono, the spleen is very susceptible to injury. If the football should hit your abdomen, it could cause rupture of the spleen. I know of a recovering mono patient who ruptured his spleen after catching a frisbee

Wait a little: If your spleen is enlarged, contact sports such as foot ball should be avoided to avoid serious consequences of internal bleeding. Pl let your doctor check your speen in a couple of weeks or so to clear you to resume sport activity.

No: It is important to wait for your spleen to return to normal before going back to group sports. There is a danger of rupturing your spleen with severe bleeding. Even if contact with the abdomen is unintended it may occur. Be safe!
