It can cause issues: It's possible that in the long run too frequent and/or too "strong" a chemic peel can lead to uneven pigmentation, acne/rosacea flares and superficial blood vessel(capillary) damage - aka broken blood vessels. So be careful try to avoid doing them more than 1X/month unless a physician specifically suggests otherwise.
