Depends: The answer depends on your symptoms after the knee has had some time to heal the soft tissue damage. If your knee still hurts with clicks and locks after the bruising and soft tissue swelling is gone, then you should have an evaluation by a Specialist, who will probably order an MRI study. Then, based on the entire evaluation, you may or may not need surgery.
