LPR versus PND: Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) often responds to dietary modification, elevation head of bed, PPI twice daily for over 6-8 weeks. If symptoms persist, consider other etiologies: Sinus drainage, cysts/masses in pharynx, external thyroid compression, Zenker's diverticulum, neurological, infectious. Further evaluation such as transnasal esophagoscopy, EGD and/or barium swallow may be necessary.
