See doctor now: This can be very painful and would not likely go away soon without letting the blood out. It takes just minutes to get rid of it if done right.

Nail Hematoma: Hi Bonnie, It depends on the size of the hematoma. A small hematoma can be managed with "pressure dressing" (tight bandaid with maybe some gauze under it). Larger hematomas should be drained by a physician. Keep in mind the longer you wait the less likely that a doctor will be able to drain it and that you will have to wait for it to dissolve on its own.
