A member asked:

Have you ever heard of racing thoughts when you eat anything? what illness could cause this? i have no anxiety or stress, so it isn't that.

Not medical: Racing thoughts are usually associated with psychiatric diagnoses or intoxication syndromes. Anxiety, mania, hypomania, and some schizophrenic patients complain of them. Hyperthyroidism might cause it but I would expect that to happen at other times as well instead of just when eating. Best to talk with a physician or psychiatrist about it.

Don't know of: any psychiatric conditions that present in this manner. Might consult with your doctor to see if there is a metabolic disturbance.
