Needs exam: There are many causes for the swelling, it could be be as simple as an immunization reaction. She needs a good exam to look at her leg and a good hip exam to ensure her hip is properly placed.. Your doctor may need to order imaging to look at the swelling and her hip. This can range from an Ultrasound, to regular Xrs to an MRI. Because 5 month olds do not walk, pain is difficult to assess.
