Acute VS Chronic: For acute gout- Colchicine, Steroids (Prednisone) and Indomethecin . For chronic gout- Allopurinol is most comonly used.

Decrease uric acid: High uric acid levels in the blood cause gout. The most effective treatment is to lower those levels. The previous doctor spelled out how we do that with drugs. It is desirable to avoid drugs, if possible.
