Signs of shingles.: These can be the heralding signs of shingles. The rash usually appears after three days of pain and numbness. If treated within 48 hours of onset of symptoms, the outcome is better. You need to contact your physician as soon as possible. If you cannot contact your physician, the emergency department will always see such cases. You will need to go there.

Inflammation: This appears to be an inflammatory process but what is causing the inflammation and burning etc is what is of real concern. Taking an anti-inflammatory may be beneficial..-would certainly check with your physician if it persists - especially since bothering both shoulders. This could be from muscle inflammation -fairly likely -or could be from irritation of one/more nerves. Cold may help also.

Seek evaluation: If there is no reason that you know that these symptoms should be happening and especially if you have not had it happen before you should seek medical evaluation for why this large of an area of your bodies' tissue is letting you know there is a problem.
