A member asked:

I have had mild to sharp pains on the top of my left buttocks for 3 days. it comes n goes as i walk. what could this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Buttock pains: Most likely this is due to pressure on a nerve as it comes out between the vertebra of the lumbar spine. This is usually caused by a slipped disk, which happens to all of us at some time or another. Usually if you wait 2-3 weeks, it will resolve on its own. You don't need fancy xrays unless it lasts over 6 weeks.
