Many possibilities: Hi Annabell. Less frequent bowel movements can be a manifestation of slower metabolism, as seen in hypothyroidism. Also, metabolism slows with aging, but isn't necessarily accompanied by constipation. The constipation may be unrelated to any change in your metabolism. Get plenty of dietary fiber. You might want to discuss this with your doc and see whether any tests are warranted. Good luck!

Slow: It is possibly related to your life style and dietary habits. If you are sedentary, dislike vegetables or fiber and not drink enough fluid, you could become sluggish and constipated. That being said, there are also hormonal issues including thyroid dysfunction that can cause your metabolism to slow. down. If this is a problem, please contact your doctor to determine the cause of the problem.
