Possible: Good of pressure control is important for kidney function. It is better for BP to be more just around 130/80. Target blood pressure could be different from one person to the other depending upon other medical conditions. Low sodium diet is essential for blood pressure control.

Maybe: Tough question to answer for you specifically and depends on your other risk factors and current kidney function. If we took a thousand people with that blood pressure over time and compared it to a thousand with a blood pressure of 120/70, we would see more problems develop in those with a blood pressure of 138/94, however you individually could have that blood pressure with np. Treat hypertension: Yes, that level, if properly tested, is harmful to kidneys at your age. Be sure it's done after sitting 10 minutes in a chair with arms. It may improve with regular exercise and a diet high in vegetables, nuts and fruit and low in processed foods, restaurant meals, and salt. If you're on medicine, discuss this with your doctor. If you can't improve without exercise and diet, you may need meds
