A member asked:

How long do symptoms of prostatitis last if you start antibiotics?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Variable: If the prostatitis is due to bacterial infection, proper antibiotic treatment should relieve symptoms in a matter of days. However in most cases the cause of prostatic inflammation is not known and antibiotics are not helpful. Unfortunately, prostatitis may be chronic or remitting and relapsing.
