Fsh triggers eggs: the mammalian estrus cycle seems to be 'triggered' by episodic surgers of the release of follicle stimulating hormome (FSH) and the presence of lutenizing hormone (LH). Progresterone (P) and synthetics like it administered as medicine shut down the hypothalamic cycling, and when you stop the progresterone the cycle often resumes. Last I checked, we still didnt know exactly why that happens.

Depends...: Anovulation means a "cycle" that is abnormal due to not ovulating. This can cause irregular or prolonged bleeding or skipping. Progesterone helps reset the lining of the uterus so that it is more ready to accept the next normal cycle. FSH/LH come from your pituitary gland and signal the ovaries to eventually cause ovulation. If anovulatory cycles continue, further evaluation will be needed.
