Infection or ear wax: Not too hard to tell the difference. Ear wax is a sticky wax like substance and your baby is usually feeling just fine. With and ear infection in someone as young a 5 months, they are usually fussy, have a fever, or have other symptoms too. There are other rare conditions but if your baby is feeling fine, it is not likely anything serious. Hope all is well!

Ear: Possibly could be wax, but if its very liquidy, then follow up with a doctor to get the ear checked to make sure there is no perforated eardrum from an ear infection.
