Short of breath: Dizziness and shortness of breath can potentially be caused by many different and sometimes serious causes especially in someone who has diabetes. I recommend that you see your physician to determine whether this is a side effect of the Metformin or if it is being caused by something else,... If it is the medication that is causing these symptoms then other options would be to lower the dose, change medicines, or be more aggressive with lifestyle modifications. I wish you the best of luck.

Doubt cause & effect: Hi. No, I doubt that the metformin is causing your dizziness and shortness of breath. That's a low dose of metformin, and those aren't common side effects of metformin. It's probably just a coincidental relationship, not a cause and effect relationship. You should talk with your doctor and consider other causes for dizziness and shortness of breath. Good luck!
