A member asked:

Can straining on the toilet due to constipation bring on labour at 34 weeks pregnant or beyond?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not typically: Diarrhea can result in contractions from the release of prostaglandins. IF you are constipated you can take colace, fibercon, metamucil, milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) and dulcolax. A good fiber source like plum or prune juice may help too.
