Genetic factors: Some people inherit tendency to develop atherosclerosis even in absence of "traditional" risk factors. Consider screening for unusual risk factors e.g. homocysteine, abnormal lipoproteins, other hematologic factors etc. Consider aggressive Rx with e.g. statins, B-vitamins, aspirin etc. Seek out an academic cardiologist-specialist in atherosclerosis. Check out cardiology depts at Emory &/or MCG.
