Low dose chest ct scan dangerous if tested yearly around age 40? mom smoked cigs & died at 49 from bac. i quit weed @ 32 but never heavy smoker.

So far AMerican canc: society has not found any benefit in doing so. does not dx cancers earlier or save lives. but radiation exposure may not be more than a mammogram recommended once a year for women

The US Preventive: Services Task Force recommends low dose CT screening for at risk individuals, based on a review of pertinent studies. See: http://www.uspreventiveservicestaskforce.org/uspstf13/lungcan/lungcanfact.pdf The radiation exposure is small, up to 2/3 less than a standard CT.
