GERD duration: Some people are cured of their GERD with changes in weight, diet, medications, etc. It may last a long time, it may be affected by certain conditions, but no, GERD is not permanent. It is in a sense curable.

Not necessarily : If your GERD symptoms are stress related, reducing the stress could stop the GERD. Also, it is common for children to "grow out if it" as they get older. Hope this helps!
