What meds?: It all depends on what medication was used. Have you been on antibiotics or tretinoin for example? If these have been tried and no success then you might need to see a Dermatologist if you are not seeing one yet. If you are please make sure you follow closely with this specialist in order to decide the best treatment. Acne can be difficult to get rid of but definitely possible.

Depends on severity: Whether the risks outweigh the beneifts is truly a matter of severity of the disease as well as the importance to the individual. Acne is rarely, if ever, a life threatening disease. Therefore, it can essentially go untreated if it doesnt bother you. However, to others, the disease can cause great psychological distress and issues with self esteem/confidence/image. In this case, benefits may win.
